Mr. Lloyd George said that it was difficult to discriminate between the real conscientious objectors and thoso using" the plea as a cloak for cowardico. Ho welcomed the suggest-ifin that puch objectors should be asked what services they were prepared to offer the country. "Nobody,'. he said, "could doubt that the country was in great trouble. Nobody could doubt that the whole destiny of the country" depended on what happened in the near future. The Government was entitled to ask these men to help tho. country."
