MASTERTON NOTES
It is expected that the Wairarapa quota for the 15th Reinforcements v. ill be short by a good many men. A vigorous effort is being made to stimulate recruijjjng. As a result of the recent race meeting at Mastorton, the revenue of tho Government will he swelled to the extent of £1520 9s. 6d. Of this amount, £706 19s. represents the special" war tax. v
Mr. Ogden has been appointed caretaker of the Mastertoii Publio Park, in succession to Sir. D. Jackson.
Mr. L. G. Reid, S.M., has gone to Dannevirko to sit as a Commission to determine certain . matters affecting local authorities. >
News has boon received that Mr. William. Hessey, brother of Mrs. T. ATagg, of Mastertoii; and nephow of Mr. John Hessey, died suddenly at Dunedin on Monday. --'
