WOOLLEN MILLS STRIKE
MILL-OWNERS' CONFER
CANNOT AGREE TO LOCAL DEMANDS
There was :no movement towards a, settlement of the Petone Woollen Mills strike yesterday, and with the exception of a httle work that is being done ■oj. tho foremen of departments (who are not members of tho union), the mills are quiet. " ■ ls The most-important feature yesterday was a conference of delegates 'representing every woollen company in the Dominion, -which assembled in Wellington at-tho invitation of the Wellington Woollen -Company. This conference sat -throughout the day, and finally passed too following resolution :—
"That this conference cannot ?¥ 0 ir to _, tlle , demands-of the Petono (.Wellington) Union for a 10 per cent, bonus above the award rates •as agreed by the respective unions and confirmed by the Court of Arbitration."
