By Telegraph—Press Association—Copyright London, March 20. The Rev. Stopford Brooke, M.A., LL.D., is dead. [The late Rev. Mr. Stopford Brooke was a well-known man of letters. He was born at Letterkenny, Donegal, Ireland, in 1832, and l educated at Kidderminster, Kingstown, and Trinity College. (Dublin). He won the Downe's Divinity prize, and the Vice-Chancellor's prize for English verso. Ordained in June, 1857, he was successively curate of St. Matthew's, Marylebone,. curate of. Kensington Church, chaplain to the Princess Royal at Berlin, Minister of St. James I *' Chapel, York Street, • London, and Minister of Bedford Chapel. For a time he was chaplain to the Queens In 18S0 he seceded from the Church of England. His publications' include: "Freedom in the Church of England!," "Theology in the English Poets," "Primer of English Literature," ' "A Fight of Faith," "Riquet of the Tuft, a Love Drama," "Spirit of tho Christian Life," "Unity of God and Man," "Dove Cottage," "History of Early English Literature," and "The Gospel of Joy."]
