PRIME MINISTER AGREES TO HALF-HOLIDAY FEING PROCLAIMED.
In regard to tho celebration of Anzae Day, tlie members of the committee, with tlie Mayor (Mr. J. P. Luke), had a brief interview with the Prime Minister (tlie Hon. W. F. Massey), and put before him their ideas for the celebration of Anzao Day as outlined at the meeting held last week. Sir. Luke stated that_ tlie Prime Minister agreed that a national half-holiday should be proclaimed on Anzao Day. and that arrangements should be made, not only in the cities, but in provincial and district centros, for the holding of a united religious service during the .afternoon and a patriotic meeting in the evening. Mr. Massey also thought that it would bo a good idea to arrange that the children attending State schools should be addressed on the Thursday, afternoon, the last school-day prior, to the Easter holidays, and Anzac Day (Tuesday, April 2o), to impress them with tlie significance of Anzac Day. Mr. Mnssev was strongly of the opinion that no countenance should ho given to any conviviality or merry-making on the afternoon in quction.
