AUCKLAND RESIDENT INJURED,
A serious, accident occurred at the Hotel Windsor on Saturday night, ivhereby.an Auckland resident, named J. iMalks, was badly injured. It would appear that Mr. Malks fell from the fire-escape landing on the second floor to the fire-escape'landing on the first floor, and that he had a miraculous escape from being dashed to death on the ground below.
All that is known is that Mr. Malks, tvlm is the representative of the Magic Exterminator Company, of Auckland,, visited tlie hotel at 9 p.m. for the purpose of fumigating a room on tho second floor. About an hour later ho ivas discovered in the pantry on' the first floor by the liftman, and it was evident that, after Ms fall, he had crawled through a -window into tlie pantry to 6eek help. The proprietor nf the hotel at once communicated with Dr.- Pollen, and the latter was quickly in attendance. The doctor's examination showed that Mr. Mnlks was suffering: great pain from internal injury, and the -ambulance was ordered so that the patient might be removed to the Hospital. Late last night the Hospital authorities reported that Mr. Malks was still in. rather a bad way, suffering from in* juries to the ribs and side.
