"ALL FOR EMPIRE" LEAGUE
"Members of the Commercial TraveL lers and Warehousemen's Associacioa met at the club rooms last evening to discuss the objects and propaganda of the All-for-Empire League. Mr. F. W. Manton occupied the chair, and explained at_ length the steps the executive'!to 'giy'e'.effect to cisions of the Travellers' Conference, and the progress of the movement in. the other centres. ' Successful meetings had been held) at Dunedin, Auckland, and Christchurch .and suggestions had been made at the centre for the amendment of the objects of tho league, to which a new clause was proposed to be added, as No; X: "That it be a recommendation to tlie Education Board that an addition be made to the syllabus to foster the industri&s of the Dominion and of the Empire, and to educate.thc children to the .'entire elimination of enemy productions."; Tlie secretary (Mr. A:- J. Carlton) read letters received from -. the Prime Minister (the Right Hon. W. F. Massey), the Minister of Finance (Sir Joseph Ward), tho Hona James Allen, G. W. Russell,' A, L. Herdman, Dr. M'Nab, and W. H.' Herries. expressing approval of, and sympathy with," the ..objects of the league. It was also amiouMed that -many members of Parliament had similarly./ expressed their approval of-the'league a propaganda and their best , Wishes for its success. , • .• ■■ Tlio chairman stated! tliat ths .Wellington Chamber of - Commerce was _also, m sympathy with tho league, and had expressed a desire , that a deputation of its members should wait upon tilt Ab> sociated Chambers at their conference on March 22.- ' Some interesting speeches wore made and several suggestions were oilered for furthering the work of_the the speakers, being Messrs " -Hl; „ r' T C.
