ESTIMATE OF CASUALTIES By Telegraph—Press Association—Copyright (Rec. March 18, 0.40 a.m.) London, March 17. The "Morning Post's" Budapest correspondent states that four million Aus-tro-Hungarians have been mobilised, representing the final effort, and includes men up to fifty-five years, though men of forty-three to fifty-five cannot he legally sent to the firing line. One million seven hundred thousand are on the Russian front, half a million on the Italian, and 200,000 in the Balkans. The rest are in training. A reliable statistician estimates the casualties to February, 1916, at 540,300 killed, 2,111.000 wounded, and 648,000 prisoners on the Russian front; 117,900 were killed, 265,900 wounded, -and 80, COO made prisoners in the Balkans; 63,700 were killed, 218,700 wounded, and 30.500 made prisoners on the Italian front, totalling approxi.'mately 4,100.000, hut of this number nearly It million wounded men have returned to the fronts. It is estimated that over 400,000 Hungarians have been killed.
