MR, ASQUITH'S PLEDGE MUST BE KEPT By Telegraph—Press Associfl lion—Copyright (Itcc. Sin roll 17, 4 p.m.) London, March 16. Another mas,} meeting of attested married men was "held at Tower Hill. They jeered the announcement that Mr. Asguith would not receive a deputation. It was decided to form a married men's league, and insist on the pledge being carried out. The married men are arranging for a demonstration on an immense scale in Hyde I'ark on Saturday. A conferenoe of the Government and the War Office discussed tho recruiting situation. It is understood that married men thirty-six years and upwards will not be required to serve. Probably unmarried men ovor forty years will shortly be enlisted. An active campaign to canvass_ unattested married men is beginning immediately.

In the House of Commons, Mr. H. J. Tennant (Under-Secretary for War), when interrogated, said lie could not say what the Government action would be in. the event of attested men refusing to respond to tlie summons. It would bo improper to anticipate 6uch an unfortunate and illegal act on the part of any of those wlio had attested.
