Signor Giusepije Bevione. writing in the "Gazssetta led Popolo" of Milan, makes an interesting revelation in re--gafd to unsuccessful German efforts to violate Swiss neutrality n.t tho beginning of the war. Signor Bevione states that ho has the best possible authority for tho assertion that tho German Minister at Berne, oil August 4, 1914. mada a formal demand to the Swiss Government for permission to send German troops through Switzerland ini an effort to encircle Belforfc.
Ths Federal Government; refused firmly, and warned Germany that any such attempt would meet with armed resistance.
