ONSLOW BOROUGH COUNCIL

, At last night's meeting of the Onslow Borough Council the Mayor ' (Mr. 0. 0. Crump) presided, and there were also present: Councillors J. C. Gardner, L. A. Browne, H. Brenton Rule, C. Bowden, J. G. Smith, A. E. Budd, J. M. Dale, and A. W. C. Palmer

The Borough Engineer x (Mr. R. S. Rounthwaite), in his periodical report, stated that he had inspected certain foot-bridges at one of them-, was, in-his opinion,'i'quite unstable and' unsafe., He recommended that notices be placed at cither end of this, bridge warning the public that it was unsafe. In regard to the railway crossing notices m the borough, the engineer thought it would be advisable if, the council, sent extracts from his report on the matter to. the District Railway Engineer.' ' The report concluded: "Any responsibility for accidents hap-' pening through the' fixing oi such notices on the public highways, without consulting the local , authority, should be on the shoulders, of the Railway Department."—The report 'was'. adopted.'
