Major H.' F. Davis, J.P., and Mr. L. Mlvenzic. J.P., were on the Bench at yesterday s sitting of tho Magistrate's Court. the cases for hearing was one in which Gustavo Abraham, aged years, was charged with assaulting Joseph Donnelly. A plea of not guilty was entered to the charge. Inspector Hendrey called three witnesses, who witnessed the assault, and none of these was cross-examined by tho accused. It appeared that after haying a meal in the Anzac Restaurant. Abraham refused to pay, although ho had considerably over £2 in his possession. On being asked to leave the premises, ho added insult to injury by striking the proprietor (Doniielly) in the face, and stating: "I've no. time for tlie British, they're no good.!' ,0n being asked if he had anything to say, the accused declared that he remembered nothing of tho occurrence. Maurice O'Connor, for whom Mr. G. Samuel appeared, was remanded until

Horman Henry Grell, native of London, and Eva Grell were charged with keeping a house of ill-fame in Charlton., Avenue. Uotli pleaded not guilty, and the cases were remanded 'intil Tuesday next. Five children, who were taken into custody when the Grells were arrested, were also remanded. Tlioy will bo brought before the Juvenile Court as children living in the house of a reputed prostitute Inspector Hcmlroy stated that arrangements had been made to care for them at a registered home until the Court could deal with the matter.
