4. NEW ZEALAND ENGINEERS PHIV ATE OPINION OF THE STUDEBAKER. TJTe Tourist Motor Co., Hastings, knowing that we are closely interested in Studobaker motors, have forwarded to us a copy "f a lengthy business letter sent tliem by Mr. Allan H. M'Lcan, the engineer of their firm, who is at present in, Detroit', investigating the claims of tho 1916 models of the great American automobile manufacturers. The Tourist Motor Co. have very courteously given us permission to publish extracts Iroin tho fetter, and we extract the following para- ' graph as likely to interest owners and prospective owners of Studobaker cars:— "My honest opinion about the Studebaker car is that it is the best value for money on- the American market, and as faf as hnidii and workmanship are concerned it 16 second to none. I consider that wo \youtd bo foolish to take up tho agency for any liighor priced car that is built here, because, if we repaint the Studebaker and .equip it with wire wheels it would bo equal to the Minerva in appearance and quietness of running. The engine is the cleanest designed one that I liavo inspected." It may bo explained that Mr. M'Loan's mission to America was to secure the agency of a high-priced American car to take the place of the firm's Silent Knight Minerva agency. There is a good market in Hawke'a Bay for the very best car regardless of price. Mr. M'lean's honest opinion regarding the Studebaker is that there is no American oar on the market better than the Studobaker at any price. The (ivo-scater touring Studebaker (1-cylinder, 25 h.p.), with electric self-starter and electric fights, sells in New Zealand for .£345, the three-seater Studebaker, with same equipment, being priced at .£335.
