Two' war trophies from Gallipoli, which are to be placed on permanent exhibition in one of the Auckland parks, were due'to arrive there by the Monowai on.Friday. They comprise two ancient mortars (forwarded from the New Zealand and Australian Division ordnance depot, No. 2 outpost, Gallipoli, by Sorgeant A. Gilmotir, Auckland Regiment, and five other members of the division. The senders pkeed inside tlie barrel of one of the mortars a note, dated October 24, 1915, expressing tho desire that tho trophies should bo erected in somo suitable park—Auckland preferred. In order to givo effect to the wishes of tho men, the Minister of Dofenco notified tho City Council that tho two mortars would be sent thereon their arrival from the war zone.
