KILLED ON THE RAILWAY. By Telegraph—Press Association-. Dunedln, March 18. Gustav Severin Seguin, a single man, 35 years of age, employed a surfaceman on the Dunedin-Mosgiel line, was knocked down by a passenger train this morning, and di§d on the way to the hospital. - • WASHED OFF THE ROOKS AND ' DROWNED. Auckand, Marcli 13.. A married man named W. W. Tothili, 53 years of age, was washed off the rocks at Pility while fishing and was drowned. DROWNED IN THE MANAWATU RIVER. Levin, A March 13. Yesterday afternoon, Ronald Broughton, aged nineteen years, son of Mr. John Brougkton, of Levin, was seized with cramp while Lathing m the Manaivatu River at Paiaka, and was drowned in fifteen feet of water. The body was recovered three hours later. , • LORRY DRIVER INJURED. ■ A lorry, laden with-drain pipes, was Deuig JjTven along Cuba Street shortly kelore 2 o'clock yesterday afternoon when one of tho wheels was caught in file tramlino. The lorry swerved, and cue driver (Edward Mellows) was thrown on to the road, and badly shaken. Dr. Giesen, who was passing at the time, attended Mellows, and ordered his removal to the where he is now progressing satisfactorily. The horses in the lorry afterwards bolted down the street, but lvero caught before they had .done any damage to property other than the lorry, the shaft of which was broken. SERIOUS DRIVING ACCIDENT. A. serious accident occurred at Lansdowne on. Sunday . (states our Masterton correspondent). Mr. W. C. Welch was taking his family for a drive in a phaeton, when the horse took fright and bolted. Mr. Wclch was' pulled out of the vehicle and dragged some distance, sustaining minor injuries. _ Mrs. Wclch jumped out, and fell heavily on lo her face, being rendered unconscious, and suffering severe injuries. She was immediately removed to the hospital. Miss Muriel Wclch sustained an injury to the arm. GUARD IT ALLS FROM TRAIN. Guard Johnston, of Paekukariki, slipped and. fell from a. train at Porirua yesterday. .He w.is admitted _to the Hospital at 6.15 p.m., suffering from injuries to his right hand.
