VIGOROUS BOMBARDMENT. (Rcc. Marcli 13, 8.15 p.m.) Amsterdam, March 12. An Austrian communique says: "The Italians all day and night vigorously bombarded, our positions on the plateau of Doberao, the bridge-head at. Gorizia, and the southern portion of the town." OPERATIONS IMPEDED. BY PERSISTENT BAD WEATHER. (Reo. March 13, 11.15 p.m.) Rome, March 13. Operations are impeded by persistent bad weather and heavy snow. After the bombardment of the Isonzo the Italian infantry- ploughed through deep snowdrifts and attacked the enemy position v ith grenades. An enemy de. tachment in support was caught by a well-adjusted artillery and machine-gun fire. '
The Italian activity is interpreted as an effort to prevent the Austrians reinforcing Verdun.
