GENERAL AYLMER PALLS ' BACK London, March 10, 10.40 p.m. The High Commissioner reports:— Kir Percy Lake reports from Mesopotamia:—''General Aylmer was operating on Wednesday seven, or eight miles from the right bank of the River Tigris, but in consequence of lack of water he was compelled to fall back on the river, after evacuating the wounded'."" THE TURKISH VERSION. (Roc. March 12, 5.5 p.m.) Amsterdam, March' 11. A Turkish communique say3:—The enemy attacked with main forces ou March 8 from the right bank of the Tigris River. The fleet brought up reinforcements, enabling the enemy to temporarily occupy a portion of our trcnchcs, which ive wholly recaptured, disclosing two thousand enemy::." dead.. Our losses were small.
