1 NEW ZEALAND ENGINEER'S PRfc VATE OPINION OF THE STUDEBAKER. TiTe tourist Motor Co., Hastings, knowthg tliat we are closely interested in. Studebaker motors, have forwarded to us a copy nf a Tengtly business letter sent them by Mr. Allrui H. M'Lean, the engineer of their firm, who is at present in Detroit, investigating the claims of the 1816 models of the great American automobile manufacturers. The Tourist Motor Co. have very courteously riven us permission to publish extracts from the letter, and we oxtract the Mowing paragraph. as likely to interest owners and prospective owners of Studebaker cars:— My lionest opinion about the Studebaker car is that it is the best value for money on tlie American market, and as far as hnisfii and workmanship are concerned it is second to none. I consider that ws would be foolish to take up the agency for any higher priced cor that is built here, beeauso if we. repaint tho StudeDaker and equip it with wire wheels it wouUFbo equal to tlie Minerva in appearance and quietness of running. The encine is the cleanest designed one that I have inspected." It may bo explained that Mr. M'Lcau's mission to America was to secure the agency of a high-priced American car to take the place of the firm's Silent Knight Minerva agency. There i 9 a good market in Hawko's Bay for the very best car obtainable, regardless of price. Mr. M'Lean's honest opinion regarding tho Studebaker is that'tnera is 110 American car on the market better than the Studebaker at any price. The five-seater touring Studebaker (4-cylindor, h.n.) with electrio self-stirter and electric lights, sells in New Zealand for liie three-soator Studebaker, with same equipment, being priced at JG335.
