The -Paris "Fotit Journal" describes tho results of an experiment in training dogs for war, service. M. Etienne Joubert, professor of' agriculture, at Fontainebleau, undertook to give "a course of instruction" „ to; twenty col T lies. Tho dogs were trained to givo warning of the approach of au enemy, to accompany patrols, to .lie on watch in trenchos, and to carry messages when telephones wero out of ordor. Frequently since their "school days" wero over they havo rendered valuable sorvico to the troops. Olio .dog in particular seems to have distinguished himself by scenting the Boscljes when they wero attempting a surprise ...during a dark night. Thanks to the dog's warn-, ing, tho enemy got more than they bargained for.
