WAR PENSIONS
$ —. .' I AWARDS THIS WEEK. The Pensions Board investigated 52 claims for pensions this week', 49. froiij soldiers and three from dependents. To soldiers 18 pensions and 28 allowances were granted, and one application was declined and two adjourned. Following were the rates of pensions' granted:—Two at £91, two at £78, seven at £52, one at £39, and six ■at £26, a total charge of £897 per year. The pension previously granted to a soldier's mother w«s increased from 10s. to 15s. per .week. ' Pensions of ss. per week each were granted to two children of a Maori soldier killed in notion, and a pension of 7s. per week to -the orphan child of a soldier. To date 599 claims have been received from soldiers, and G29 from dependents. Following are particulars of pensions granted:—One hundred and seventy soldiers' pensions amounting to £87-14 per year, 113 widows' and children's pensions amounting to £10,025, and 1 435 pensions to other dependents amounting to £12,970, making in all 71P pensions and. a total annual charge of; £31,739. :
