HUTT GOLF CLUB

The committee of the Hutt Golf Club reports that the financial position is better than at the end of last year. This is due, not only to curtailed expenditure, tat also to the generosity of members donating debentures and cash represent, ins; the 6um of <£226 18s, (cash 75., debentures £6125, debenture interest J653 lis.) to the funds of the club. The year commenced with a debit balance of £55 18s., to which must be added unpaid accounts .627 lis. 9d., flnd olio year's debenture interest .£76 45., with outstanding subscriptions to the value of <£55 Os, Gd. . At the close of' the year the debit balance was £51 Gs. 5d.; unpaid accounts, <£2 135.; unpaid debenture interest-J237 75., against which there are outstanding subscriptions, etc., amounting to ,£37 is. During the coming year it will be nkci-s. sary for caution in the matter of expenditure, as, with the large number of mem. bers who are on active service, the club's revenue will be considerably reduced. Arrangements were made whereby the services of Mr. J. M'Cormick,' professional coach, were secured for the supervision of the links, and- the committee notes with pleasure their improved condition; The membership at the end of tho year stood at:—Playing members 130 (men 78, ladies 52), non-playing members 44 (men 24, ladies 20), absent members 3, and life members 2; total, 179. The committee has resolved to keep all members on active service 'live" members during the time they are with the Forces, and it is noted with pleasure that 21 members of the club have volunteered for service during the year. The committee places on record the fact that two ex-members of the club have lost their lives in the service of their King and country, viz., Messrs. E; R. Kirk and N. Eobieson.
