Paper, Mills 0 16 3 — PRICE OF FLOUB. Australian flour merchants are refusing to take orders from New Zealand at present, for what reason is not clearly known unless the Government, which is handling all stocks, wish to retain all the surplus lor Imperial needs. There has. been a little Australian flour coining ia since the New Year, but it appears now that shipments to New Zealand are absolutely barred. One Wellington merchant recently offered £11 15s. per ton, f.0.b., for a 50-ton lot, but received a reply to the effect that tho order eouUl not be filled. £11 15s. per ton, f.0.b., means £14 Bs. 6d. at Wellington, a price considerably over tho ruling rate for New Zealand flour, now quoted at £12 10s.. f.o.b. Assuming' that the Australian Government holds firm in its determination not to ship to New Zealand, it is not unlikely that tho recent reduction of £1 a ton in local flour will be added again. Customs duty collected at tho port ol Wellington yesterday amounted to £5416 .lfa. Id. WHEAT. By Telegraph—Press Association—Copyright London, March 7.
