AN ASTONISHING SCENE IN A TOWN By Telegraph—Press Association—Copyright London, March 7. There was a» astonishing scene in a Yorkshire town. The police traversed tlio streets warning tlie inhabitants of the approach of the Zeppelins. ' There was a heavy snowstorm, and most of l.he people were in bed. The explosion of the bombs roused the town. There was no panic, but a great exodus from tlio poorer quarters, despite the heavy snowstorm, to open spaces, the people wearing only nightclothes. Few were booted, and women were _ carrying infants. Some had hastily snatched bluuvls and tablccloths to cover tliemI selves, and trudged through the snow Mid wind. The.y witnessed a fascinating spectacle when the airship returned and poised overhead. An eye-witness states that' it was more like a prearranged fireworks than a death raid. Blue fairy lights twinkled in the sky, and star sliells like falling rockets iit 'up tlio snow until tlio airship suddenly started to roar and went off at a tremendous speed. THIRTEEN PERSONS KILLED. NINETY BOMBS DROPPED. London, Marcli 7. It is officially stated that ninety bombs were dropped indiscriminately in the rural districts on Sunday. It may lie due to tlie rough weather that the Zeppelins wore uncertain _ of their whereabouts, and were anxious to got rid of their bombs before escaping under cover of darkness. Thirteen persons were killed. SUNDAY'S AIR RAID. • NO MILITARY DAMAGE DONE. London, March 7, 2.50 p.m. The High Commissioner reports:— "At least ninety bombs were droppad indiscriminately over rural districts during Sunday night's air raid. "No military damage was done. "Tlie casualties confirmed aro: Civil population, 13 killed."
