BRIGADIER-GENERAL G. S. RICHARDSON
A NEW APPOINTMENT. By Telegraph—Press Association—Copyright London, March 7. Brigadier-General 6. S. Richardson has arrived from Salonika to take up military advisership to Sir Thomas Mackenzie, and to command the New Zealanders in Groat Britain [It is understood that there are about 4000 New Zealand soldiers in England.'] Brigadier-General G. S. Richardson, who was lately promoted to that rank while serving at Gallipoli, is well known in military and volunteer circles in New Zealand.' He began his New Zealand career as a master gunner of tho Artillery, and did good work horo before leaving for England, rising to the rank of Major and then taking the Staff College course at Camberley. BrigadierGeneral Richardson was at Antworp before going to Gallipoli, and was mentioned in dispatches , several times. When leaving Gallipoli to report 'at headquarters, the trawler in which ho sailed was severely bombarded by a Turkish 6-inch gun, and though none of the shells found their mark, several burst unpleasantly near, portions of .them falling on the vessel's, deck.
