$ ' The Wellington Provincial 'Athletic Championships are to' be held ■ in Masterton on IViday, in connection with the patriotic carnival. The clubs that will be . represented are: Wellington, Athletic, Victoria College,' l Hutt, and Wairarapa. The Wairarapa Club at present holds the M'Villy Shield. A number of members of the various clubs who are at present in camp will take part in the meeting. The Patriotic Carnival, which has been organised by the Friendly Societies of the Wairarapa, opens on Thursday (to-day) with a monster procession in Masterton, in which many trade displays will be made. Among other attractions is a Maori village in the park. The Government has agreed to send its official operator to Masterton to take a kinematograph picture of the Carnival festivities. Hie Concert Hall in the new municipal buildings at Masterton will be used for the first time for the annual . St. Patrick's Day "social."
