When Surgeon-General Evatt, tho chairman of the Manchester Medical Board, at present engaged in examining "Derby" recruits, published his "Travels in the Euphrates Valley and Mesopotamia," few people thought that the results of his investigations, particularly in regard to water supply, would be of value to British forces in that country over forty years later.
