The epidemic of enteritis, or some kindred stomach trouble, which caused anxiety as to water supply and other matters in connection with the new camp, has now disappeared. Tho Gamp Commandant, Colonel N. P. Adams, in mentioning this fact, stated that the simultaneous dying out of the epidemic in the camp and in other parts of the AA'airarapa. as well as in Wellington, showed that it was not peculiar to the camp. The weather is very hot just now in the Wairarapa, and tho air is hot and hazy with the smoke of bush lires. Some of the men when off duty shed everything in the way of shirts and singlets, and as a result many aro becoming as brown as surf bathers. All appear in the best of health, and. the percentage of sick is small. Tho_ laying of water pipes to carry two distinct supplies of water, one for drinking and tho other for washing, is now completed. The tank above" tho wells of drinking water holds 13,000 gallons. Tho pumps work from 5 a.m. till 9.30 p.m., at which hour the big tank is filled. During the night the water used in camp may cause it to go ■down three or four feet. But that quantity of water is made up in about three-quarters of an hour when tho pumps start at daybreak. The racewater, which is used in the bath-rooms and for all washing purposes, is clean water, and there .is an ample supply of it always. So far, in spite of the heavy calls made upon the wolls during the dry weather, they have never been pumped dry. Another big work now in hand is the building of brick and iron incinerators. of tho same pattern as those used at May Morn. Several have been built and aro now drying before being used. When they are put into commission refnso from the camp of every kind will be burned, sawdust and kerosene being added to ensure rapid combustion. It is annonnned in Camp Orders that no applioa-tion for discharge will he entertained except in ease of the death of dependent, or oilier sudden circumstances. All applications must be lodged 14 days before departure of the BeinRyreement to which tlio applicant belnitts. Tlio Salvation Army will be glad to receive for distribution to tho soldiers at Foatherston Camp, supplies of weekly or monthly periodicals, illustrated or otherwise, with which to brighten up the leisure hours of camp life. ' ■ . The Soldiers' Kodak, 955. and 55a.; Films, Papers, and Developers obtainable at. p.ity prices, from Bagley, Chemist, Featherston.—Advt.
