'A well-known Auckland citizen, Mr. E. \V. Alison, celebrated his fifteenth birthday on Tuesday (states tlie Herald ). To those who know his mature years, this may appear either a mis-statement or a joke, but it represents simple fact. Mr. Alison happens, like the hero of "Tlie Pirates of Penzance opera, to have been "born in leap rear, on Febniary 29." Consequently his birthday comes round onlv once m four years. By letter and tele-' gram, Mr. Alison received more than 100 congratulations upon the event. Before Mr. J.
