It is'contended that the Government -embargo is.'having 'a. mischievous elfcct on sales, as only one buyer operates for the.whole of tho tanners in this centre; and the _ minimum price, made .is the', maximum,', also ; that owing to the jhigh price'of cattle,-with every indication of. higher values in the immediate ■future, it is absolutely necessary that market .value be obtained for such a dearly-bought .product, otherwise the general public -must suffer, while a few banners'are reaping a harvest, i A motion embodying the above statement and asking that the export of hides bo permitted under conditions not moro rigorous, than those pertaining to the, export of wool was passed unanimously.
