A BOOST FOR BRITISH TRADE
SEQUEL TO THE PATRIOTIC EXHIBITION. The sequel to the expressed determin. ation of tho exhibitors and committee at the recent Patriotic Exhibition to immediately institute an active campaign to further the movement for a British trade and industry revival— anti-Teutonic in purpose —is the following circular which has been sent out by the executive: — Dear Sir,—The following resolution ivas unanimously carried at the social function held in tho Concert Chamber, Town Hall, on Saturday evening last, when the exhibitors entertained the Exhibition Executive at a dinner as a mark of appreciation for the manner in whicK matters connected with the Ex-, hibition had been carried "nt: "That this meeting of exhibitors and executive resolves itself'into a committee to meet at a later date to considei the advisability of ascertaining the policy of tho Government as t-o the future commerce of the Dominion, and to recommend to the Associated New Zealand Chambers of Commerce the desirability of oncouraging exhibitions of a similar nature to that just held, and, further, the need for chambers of commerce and industrial associations to unite in arranging lists of goods of local manufacture which can become available to the public." Your attendance, or the representation of your firm, is requested at a meeting to bo hela on Friday next, the 3rd inst.-, at 3-o'clock, in the council room of the Wellington Central Chamber of Commerce, .situate AVinder's Building, opposite tho Royal Oak Hotel. The meeting will bo asked to follow up the success attending the Exhibition by— (1) Agreeing to form itself (if advisuble) into a deputation for the purpose of waiting on the Prime Minister and the members of his Cabinet in an endeavour to ascertain the policy of the Government as to the future commerco : of tho Dominion. (2) To prepare recommendations:— (a) To be submitted to the Association of New Zealand Chambers of Commerce as to the desirability of it encouraging exhibitions of a similar nature to that just- held. (b) To be 'submitted to chambers of commerce and industrial associations throughout the Dominion, urging them to unite hi arranging lists of goods of local manufacture wliicli can become available to the publio.
