At Caulfield, on February 19, the hurdle race went to Lord Grey, who was formerly owned by the New Zealander, A. Jlatheson. Lord Grey started favourite, and was ridden by G. Scobie, formerly private trainer at Riccarton to Mr. Har« vey Patterson. , The Dannevirko meeting will take place to-morrow and Thursday, A special train, stopping where required, will leave Palmerston North at 10. a.m. each day, and will arrive at Tamaki in timo for the first race. S;I Beid will ride Bunting in the Hack Welter at Pannevirke to-inorrow. The Sydney jockey, W. H. M'Lnchhn, who has been awarded a spell of two months, is at present on a holiday jaunt to Rotorua. After all, Taringainnhi is to fulfil her engagement in the Dannevirko Cup. Mr. G. Nash informed the writer last evening that the mare would be railed north this morning. (Sydney) have received particulars of a draft of brood mares from Mr. Lan Duncan, of the Waikauac Stud, who is also sending over the well-known thoroughbred sireu Achilles- and Birkenhead to be offered at the Easter sales there. The mares are all young and. in foal to such sires as Martian, Nassau, Bezoniau, Hallowmas, Winkio, and Birkenhead. Multiply, winac; of the Dannevirke Cup last year, is engaged in to-morrow's race, with 21b. more to carry, but the distanco is now only ten furlongs.* The Multifid gelding is an unlikely starter to-morrow.
