MUNITION MAKING
SUPPLY OF SPEOIAL TOOLS. The Sydney "Telegraph" says:—The Agent-General lias forwarded to the Premier a communication from the British Ministry of Munitions regarding arrangements which should be made for securing high-speed tools required by the munition-making workshops in the Dominions. The communication states: "It has been found necessary to exorcise a very close control over the export of highspeed tools from this country. In the case of tools required for the Dominions and colonies some difficulty is experienced owing to the fact that orders Rre generally placed with manufacturers by merchants in this country, who, in their turn, have received their orders From a merchant in one of the Dominions or colonies. It would bo a great advantage'to this Ministry in considering such applications if they could bo certified either by a Department of the Government ■ concerned or by the High Commissioner or Agent-General, or ■ other responsible authority in this country, to be actually required by firms engaged in the manufacture of munitions. The Minister is of opinion that permission to export can onlr properly be granted if this condition is satisfied, and that export to merchants who desire to hold a ■ stock ought not to bo permitted.".
