A young married woman named Phyllis Ayriss, was committed at Clorkonwell Police Court, London, for trial on a charge of bigamy. It was alleged that she married a Canadian named Giles while her husband was alive and at the front, and besides drawing a separation allowance as Ayriss's wife, also had £5 a month allowanco from the Canadian.
