A. NEW ZEALAND ENGINEER'S PKIVATE OPINION OF THE STUDEBAKER. Tne Tourist Motor Co., Hastings, knowin"- that we are closely interested in Studebaker motors, have forwarded to us a copy of a lengthy business letter sent them by Mr. Altai* H. M'Lean, the engineer of their firm, who is at present in Detroit, investigating the claims of the 1916 models of the great American automobile manufacturers. The Tourist Motor Co. have very courteously "iven us permission to publish extracts from th'o fetter, and we cxtract the following paragraph as likely to interest owners and prospective owners of'Studebaker cars:— "My honest opinion about the Studebaker car is that it is the best value for money on tlie American market, and as far as knisfii and workmanship are concerned it is second to none. I consider that wo would be foolish to take up the agency for any higher priced cur that is built here, "because if we repaint the StudeDaker and equip it with wire wheels it would be equal to tlie Minerva in appearance and quietness of running. The oncine is the cleanest designed one thnt I have inspected." It may be explained that Mr. M'l'.can's mission to America was to secure the agency of a high-priced American car to take the place of the firm's Silent Knight Minerva agency. There is a good market in Hawke'e Bay for the very best car obtainable, regardless of price. Mr. M'Lean's honest opinion regarding the Studebaker is that there is no American car on tiie market better than the Studebaker at any price. The hve-soater touring Studebaker (i-cylinder, 25 h.p.), with electric self-starter and elecU'ic lights, sells in New Zealand, for .£345, Die thrcc-seater Studebaker, with same equipment, being priced at .£335.
