BOOTY AT ERZERUM OVER THREE HUNDRED GUNS BESIDES OTHER MATERIAL . London February 27, 12.10 p.m. The High Commissioner reports:— "Petrograd reports that as a result of the capture of Erzerum, 235 Turkish officers, 12,753 men, 9 standards; 323 guns, and great quantities of ammunition, arms, and provisions were secured." The "Tribuna's" Athens; correspondent states that prior to the fall of Erzerum the commander sent a Turco-German mission urgently 'asking- for reinforcements and supplies, and stating that the Armenians and Kurds had refused to wage guerilla warfare against the Russians. Talaat Bey and Stiver Pasha replied that it was impossible to do more. A stormy scene followed, a German officer belonging to the m ission narrowly escaping violence. TURKS PROMISE TO RETAKE ERZERUM. The "Daily News" correspondent at Athens states that the Turkish General Staff has issued a comforting proclamation to retake Erzerum, and ending: "Be patient; God is with us." . ... SITUATION BEGINNING TO ALARM THE TURKS. ("Times" and Sydney "Sun" Services.) London, February 23. Despite Enver Pasha's assurances that Erzerum is an unimportant town, the general situation is beginning to a larm the Turks.. , Osmsn Pasha, Abdi Pasha, and Soual Pasha are heading an extensive old Turks' movement in Con. stantinople and the provinces, with headquarters apparently at Smyrna. The shortage of provisions is assisting the movement, which threatens a convulsion. DESPERATE EFFORT TO RETRIEVE ERZERUM. ' . (Rec. February 27, 5.5 p.m.) . 1 Parte, February 26. Constantinople trains are running day and night carrying troops and sup plies to Angora in a desperate effort to retrieve Erzerum. , " v RUSSIANS VIGOROUSLY PURSUING THE ENEMY. (Rec. February 27, 5.5 p.m.) London, February 26. The "Morning Post" Petrograd correspondent states that the pursuit-of the garrison and field troops, who are retreating, was continued ■ during the week. The fugitives are now brought to a standstill in the mountainous country near Mamakhotnn, sixty miles 'west of Erzerum, and will be forofd ' to halt to oppose a further Russian advance. It js evident that Kiamil Pasha got his main force moving westward directly it was evident the fortress must fall. Russian cavalry_ have sinoo been cutting up the rearguards, and are now coming in contact with the main body. The Russians continue energetically the pursuit of the Turkish left. THE RUSSIAN OFFENSIVE IN PERSIA • Petrograd, February 25. An official communique states: After a series of battles in Persia the remains of the enemy troops in the Kermanshah district fortified, with tho help > of German and Turkish sappers, Bidcsurkh Pass, and the almost impregnable natural position, Sakhne Pass. Wo are pursuing the Turks, who are in full retreat towards- Keimansbali. AVe captured three fiqjd pieces, ■ a mountaingun, and other weapons and ammunition. RUSSIANS CAPTURE KERMANSHAH. London, February 26, 12.45 p.m. The High Commissioner reports:— "The Russians have taken Kermanshah (Persia) during a storm." MORE PERSIAN TOWNS OCCUPIED BY THE RUSSIANS. (Rec. February 27,,5.5 p.m.) Petrograd, February 25. A Russian communique, says: In the Cauoasus we assaulted and captured the town of Isspir. The pursuit of tho enemy in the regions .of Erzerum an? KHnyss continues. TiTe troops at Kermanshah dislodged the enemy in the mountain positions, and occupied the town of Sakhne, taking four guns, and entered Kashan, south of Teheran.
