Tho National Reserve reunion meeting, whioli was arranged for February 29, has been postponed unavoidably. A parade of the various units and companies, which may have been postponed for that date, may now be ,held. A Christchurch message states: "A young lady of society rank had an experience in Cathedral Square, from which she may learn much. A wellbuilt young fellow in civilian clothes was talking to a lady friend, when the feminine patriot accostcd him, and said: 'Wily aren't you in khaki,like that man.there? It makes me sick to see you shirkers about the streets!' The young man's reply was to promptly mid decisively slap the interrogator's face —a result that naturally considerably surprised her. As a matter of fact he is a returned soldier, and explained to a constable who appeared in rosponeo to tho screams of tlio startled enthusiast that this was tho third time he had been so accostcd, and he proposed to continue his treatment ot iiierfering hussies' till the annoyance ceased." A meeting of representatives of local bodies met at Hamilton to discuss what action is to be taken in regard to the contractors' labourers' demands. Tho following resolution was passed:—"This mooting does not consider it desirable that their ordinary labourers, who practically have permanent work, should bo brought under the same award as casual Workers employed by contractors." Mr. Wright, secretary of the Auckland Employers' Association, was appointed to conduct, the dispute on behalf of local bodies before the Arbitration Court at > Auakland to-dnv>
