(Continued from Page 2.) Hutt Ladies' Patriotic Cuild. The Lower Hutt Ladies' Patriotic Guild is doing an important work, and its meetings, which are liekl each Thursday, arc well attended. The weekly patriotic shop has done exceedingly well also. Some 50 "housewives" and holdalls are sent to the Town Hail, Wellington, each month, and to tlio Military Hospital Depot there has been forwarded 50 suits pyjamas, 20 flannel waistcoats, IS dozen bandages, as well as_ socks and balaclavas. The guild entertains soldiers at the Sydney Street Clubroom oiice a month, and has contributed to the comfort of returned soldiers, both at Newtown Hospital and the Club-room, Lambton Quay. At a recent meeting, the committee voted £15 towards tlio founding of a cot at the Netley Hospital, England, • under the auspices of the Oversea Club. The Guild now numbers 126. _ Mrs. Cotter, of Grcytown, and her sister, Miss Jackson, have returned from a visit to Wellington. Mrs. J. Bltmdell (Carterton) leaves this week for Wairoa. Mrs. Patrick Maclnt.vre left, with her brother, Sergeant Miller, to visit her sister, Mrs. Cormack, at Carterton. Mr. and Mrs. H. F. Chaffey, of "The Bush," Pokororo, Nelson, are spending a few days in Wellington, staying at Barrett's Hotel.

For the sale of their goods at tho Red Cross Shop in Woodward Street, conducted all day. Friday and at tho Exhibition in the Town Hall on Saturday evening, Mrs. Murray Thomson and Mrs. Fletcher Reilly realised the sum of £35, which will go to the Red Cross Funds. _ For their valuable assistance,they wish to return thanks to the following:—Messrs. Murray, Ltd., Ellis and Manton, J. Miles and Co., Hagcall's, Ltd., Cadbury Bros., Boiselles, tho Radium Polishing Company, Thompson Bros.' and Co.,' B. W. Wilson and Co., Fleming and Co. (Gore, Southland), Kempthorne and Prosser, C. W. Wilton, Major Tatum, the Patriotic Committee, W. B. Lambert, R. Flan, W. Dobson, Mr. F. W. Vickerinan,' Mr. F. W. Manton, and Mr. Leslie. They also wish to thank everyoue who sent gifts in kind to the Red Cross Shop on Friday.

At St. Paul's Presbyterian Church Napier, on Wednesday, Mr. Stanley Gordan, only son of Mrs. A. C. Foster, of Napier, was married to Miss Florence Russell, of Levin. The ceremony was performed by the Rev. J; A. Asher. •The bride was given away by Mr. L. Btirtinshaw, and was attended by Miss Jessie Gordon, silver of the bridegroom. The bridegroom was supported by Mr. Carl Bridges. Mr. Gordon leaves for I'rentham with the iiext reinforcements.

Mr. and Mrs. Balfour Kinnear (Kumero'a), Mrs.- F. Riddiford, and Mrs. Hintz (London), left Napier on Friday for Taupo.

Mrs. Hart, Mayoress of Hastings, leaves_ to-day for Wellington to attend the Liverpool Committee's Conference, which is to be held on Wednesdady.

Mr. and Mrs. Sliirtcliffe, Mrs. D. Findlay, and Miss Priest (Timaru), passed through New Plymouth on Friday on their way to Napier, by motor.

Mrs. Femvick was a passenger from the south yesterday to meet her husband, Lient.-Colonel Fonwick, who arrives in Wellington to-day by the Riverina, from Egypt.
