AMATEUR ATHLETICS

There was a fair attendance of mera•bors at the 28th annual meeting of the Wellington Amateur Athletic Club, held on February. 17, Mr. W. H. Pollock being in the chair. Notwithstanding the adverse conditions for athletics at present prevailing, four new members were elected. The following office-bearers for the 'coming season were appointed:—His Excellency the Governor, Lord Liverpool, was elected patron, and Mr. M. Burnett, president. Tho vice-presidents elected were: Messrs. C. E. Bridge, M'Villv, J. V. Firth, H. D. Bell, R. W. Luke, A. Marryatt, J. H. Pollock, L. Blundeli, V. B. Meredith, A. A. Paape, J. B. Speed, A. .J. Abbot, J. P. Maxwell, F. Ross, W. ¥. Larkin, E. D. Bell, H. Amos, L. 0. H. Tripp, Dr. Newman, T. S. Roualdson, Hon. A. L. Herdman ; management committee, Messrs. ■W. H. Pollock, A. C. Kitto, G. Turner, L. C. M'Kay,. A. E. Wilson, A. Halligan, C. Hugo, and T. Johnson; lion, secretary, Mr. C. L. Turnbuil. lion, treasurer, Mr. F. Hodson. It was decided that an evening meeting be held on the Basin Reserve on Wednesday, March 1, when the following events will comprise the programme:— 100 yards, 1 mile run, and 1 mile walk.
