A particularly menin action is reported to have occurred in the North Taranaki district. A young sheepfarmer, imbued with patriotic feelings, left, his farm and volunteered for the front. A- neighbour, who was unable to go : t« the front himself, bui; who was anxious also to do his bit for his country. agreed to look after the farm while the farmer was absent. In addition to special emphasis laid upon religious training (states a Christchurch correspondent), the,boys are taught first aid ambulance and life saving. They are known as "life-saving scouts." In response to a suggestion from Colonel Cossgrove that the new organisation should affiliate with the- Dominion Boy Scouts, Brigadier Hoare. of 'Wellington, interviewed Colonel Cossgrove, and the basis of an agreement for affiliation was i drawn up and sent to Commissioner Hodder at Auckland for his approval. This has been received, aud_ the lifesaving scouts of tho Salvation Army vrill recoive all rights, benefits, and privileges of the Dominion Boy Scouts.
