A. NEW ZEALAND ENGINEER'S PRIVATE OPINION OP THE STUDB. BAKER. Tile Tourist Motor Co., Hastings, knowing tlnit we aro closely interested in ■ Studebaker motors, have forwarded to us a copy nf a lengthy business letter sent them *by Mr. AUaii 11. M'Lean, the en. gineer of their firm, who is at present in Detroit, investigating the claims of the lSlti models of the great American automobile manufacturers. The Tourist Motor Co. have very courteously given us permission to publish extracts from the fetter, and wo extract the following paragraph as likely to interest owners and prospective owners of Studebaker cars:— "My honest opinion about the Studebaker car is that it is the best value for money on tlie American market, and as far aa UnWir and workmanship are concerned it is second to none. I consider that we would be foolish to take up the agency for any higher priced car that is built here, because if we repaint the Simla. Daker aud equip it with wire wheels it would be equal to the Miuerra in appeal, auco and quietness of running. The engine is the cleanest designed one that I have inspected." It may be explained that Mr. Sl'Leau'a mission to America was to secure the agency of a high-priced American car to take the place of tho firm's Silent Knight ' Minerva agency. There is a good market in ttawke's Bay for the very best car obtainable, regardless of price. Mr. M'Lean's honest opinion regarding tho Studebaker is that there is no' American ear on the market better than the Studebaker at any price. The five-seater touring Studebaker (i-cylinder, is h.p.), with electric self-starter and electric lights, sells in New Zealand for .£315, the three-seator Studebaker, with same ~ equipment, being priced at .£335.
