FIRE BRIGADES' CONFERENCE
t PUBLIC RECEPTION AT AVESTPORT By Telegraph —Press Association. Weatport, February 21. About 140 delegates were present at the opening sitting of the United Fire Brigade Conference to-day. The report stated that 538 members had enlisted, during the year, and that 38 had been killed. 3 are missing, 1 is a prisoner at Constantinople, and 92 are sick and wounded. A substantial collection was made amongst the delepates for the prisoner at Constantinople, a man named Shoebridge, of Feilding. The brigade delegates "received a hearty welcome from the Mayor, councillors, and the Citizens' Committee. A number of festivities and motor drives have been arranged. President Campbell (Tiinaru) thanked the Mayor for the civic welcome.
