MOTOR-CAR ART UNION
DANNEVIR-KE. SOCIETY'S MISTAKE •By Telegraph—Preoj Association. ■; Dannevirke, February 21. ■The Dannevirke Patriotic oociety, in an advertisement concerning the Motorcar Art Union, included a statement that the winner of the art union can take tho car gr. £850 solid cash. This was done because' one of the donors offered to give this amount, if the winner did not want the car. The Assistant-Under-Secretary of Internal Affairs telegraphed to the committee that the advertisement was a distinct breach of the license. The object of the Government throughout had been to prevent raffling for money, which was purely gambling. The advertisement was so serious a breach of the license that unless it is immediately withdrawn the papers would be handed to the police to take action.
