SWIMMING PROFICIENCY CERTIFICATES. A test of the swimming capabilities of the I'e ■ jio School children was held yesterday afternoon, at Petone, under tho auspices of the Wellington Swimming Association. Air. T. Shields (president) attended, and during the day gave several interesting exhibitions, of fancy swimming. Tho foresnore was crowded with spectators, many residents staling that such a gathering had not been seen on the beach before. About 130 children quulilied for certificates.
