The growth of Raetihi as a sioclf centre, and the accessibility of this land to the Main Trunk iine,*havo converted the holdings along tho Pipiriki' Road from non-productive bush areas to productive ancl prosperous farming settlements. Raetihi and districts surrounding ifi arc well provided with schools. Besides strawberries, other small fruits grow well in the district. Splendid crops of gooseberries, raspberries, and red and black- currants may be scon on many of the farms.
