GERMAN FAILURE IN THE WEST After a five flays' tattle in a storm of unexampled severity the Russians have carried the Erzerum forts, and the Turkish slrongho!d/ has capitulated to the Grand Duke Nicholas. The victory— which the optimists thought would ho inevitably recorded in a v month's time—lias caused great rejoicing in London, for the Russian victory, as the war correspondents point out, will have immediate and far-reaching consequences—to tho advantage of the Allies.
