NATIONAL RESERVE
EASTBOURNE UNIT. 'The first annual meeting of the Eastbourne unit of the National Reserve was held! on Tuesday evening. The bal-ance-sheet diselosed a credit balance of £5 15s. 6d.; the full strength of the unit now stands at 56. The resignation of Lieut. Perry, 0.C., who is going into camp, was received with regret. It was decided to hold the weekly drill on Thursday evenings, instead of Tuesday as formerly. The alteration will data' as from February 24. The election of officers resulted as follows:—O.C., E. G.. F. Zohrab; platoon sergeant, H. \Y. Cook; sergeants, Messrs. Blair, Ewart, Newbold, and Avery; executive, the 0.0. and noncoms. ; secretary, A. Marquis. The Morris tube rifle range is nearing completion, and will' tend to increase the interest that is already being- taken in the National Beserve.
'•The Miramar unit of the National'Re-' serve continues to do useful work at its weekly parades. On Tuesday evening a fair number of members put in an appearance,' and were exercised in company movements by the officer commanding, Lieut. Norton-Taylor, advantage being taken of the fine weather to work in the open. A great attraction to members is found in the miniature rifle range, and the shooting done there lias been of a. high order, a score of 68 being recorded by Lieut. Taylor in a recent silver spoon competition. It is also intended to cultivate the social side of the reserve, and a smoke concert Las been arranged for Saturday week at the Miramar Town Hall. .
