OBITUARY
SIR WILLIAM TURNER. By Teleeraph—Press Association—CodjtleM London, February 15. Sir William Turner, principal of Edinburgh University; is dead. [Sir William Turner, K.C.8., D.Sc., F.R.S., LL.D., D.C.L., was born at Lancaster in 1832 and educated at private schools and at St. Bartholomew's Hospital. For a number of years he was demonstrator at the University of Edinburgh, later a member of the General Medical Council, and from-1898 to 1004 its president. _ In 1900 he was President'of the British Association for the Advancement of Science. Sir William wrote numerous memoirs on human and comparative anatomy an<l anthropology. For a time he was editor of tbe "Journal of Anatomy and Physiology."] SIR GEORGE PRAGNELL. .London, February 15. [Sir George Pragnell was managing partner in the firm of Cook, Son, and i-'o., St. Paul's Churchyard, and chairman of the Employers' Territorial Association and Wholesale Textile Association. The death has taken place of Viscount Ridley. • [Matthew White Ridley, second Viscount Ridley and third Baron Wensley« dale, was born on December 6, 1874, and was educated at Eton and Balliol College, Oxford (B.A. with honours). From 1900 to 1904 he was Conservative M.P. for Stalybridge. His heir is his son, the Hon. Matthew White Ridley.] •'
