SERIOUS ACCIDENT

WELL-KNOWN CITIZEN INJURED. A serious nccidcnt occurred in Manners Street, near Willis Street, at 7.40 a.m. yesterday. While a taxi-driver was driving his car at the side of the tramline, a collision occurred with a bicjcle ridden by a youth named Frank Moimtier. Fortunately, the boy was not seriously hurt. Almost at the same timo a collision occurred between the car and Mr. Solomon Myers, of the firm of J. Myers and Co. It appears that Mr. Myers, had just stepped off the footpath with a view to crossing the road. The motor-car then ran into a tram-car, and Mr. Myers was dragged some distance. He was seriously injured, receiving a-broken antic and a fractured skull. Dr. Henry attended to him, and ordered his removal to the Kensington Street Private Hospital. At midnight Mr. Myers was still in a very critical condition.
