PRINTERS PICNIC
The annual staff picnic of Messrs. Watkins, Tyer, and Tolan, Ltd., was held 011 Saturday at Day's Bay. The employees and their friends numbered, nearly one hundred, and although the weather was boisterous, the outing proved in every way a 'success. After much, Mr. Driver, the well-known conjurer and illusionist, gave an enjoyable entertainment, comprising many clever sleight-of-hand tricks. In the programme of sports the winners, of the principal events were: .Ladies' nail-driv-ing competition: Mrs. 'Watkins, 1; Mrs. Thyne, 2; special prize, -Mrs. Duffey. 100 yds. apprentices' race: H. White, 1; 1:1. Kent, 2. 120vds.: W.T. and T. handicap: C. Tattle, 1; H. White, 2. Thread-ihc-needle: Miss Anderson and N. Patching. 75yds. married men's handicap: AV. Thome, 1; A. Dryden. 2. 75yds. ladies' open handicap:.Mists.Watkins, 1; Miss Anderson, 2. 75yds. W. T. and T. ladies' handicap: Miss Jorgensen, 1; Miss llelliwell, 2. Tlie guessing competition was won by Deyer, the proceeds to bo donated to one of the patriotic funds. The distribution of ; prizes was made by Mrs. Watkins.
