Mayor of Karori and tlie majority of tlie councillors are agreed that the work should bo done, and were rather puzzled to know fl why the City has not taken anv steps i) towards its accomplishment, after be- lc mg asked, to do so. Mr. B. Burn, u Mayor of Karori, called 011 the Mayor '< yesterday afternoon to ascertain if any- 11 thing was being done, and was informed £ by Mr. J. P. Lnke that ho oould ■ scarcely expect the City to make a S start with the work until the Karori i Borough Council had passed a formal T resolution requesting them to do so. r< Mr. Luke said that ho thought it would Si bo rather impudent 011 tho part of the tf City Council to take a loan poll of .the & ratepayers of Karori without first beimr asked to do so by the local As soon as the resolution was adopted' the work would be put in hand. The'. fJ cost of the work . would 'be about £25,000, but there would bo .a loss-, owing to tho delay that would, possibly occur m getting delivery of the required 1 material, a contingency that would keep the_ money lying idle for a greater " period than would bo tho case m nor- a\mal times..
